Please could all swimmers check the entries and email competition@soundwellswim.org.uk ASAP with any questions/queries/anomalies.  (Please remember, times could not be altered on the entry system and have been taking from the ASA rankings).

Open Meet Support

This will be Soundwell’s 4th open meet and they have been getting more popular and every year.

Last year we raised over £10,000 for the club.  This money is not insignificant and is used to pay for training for poolside all volunteers, training equipment and to subsidise camp activities.  It is also a buffer to maintain the current level of squad fees.  If you wish to get an understanding of the club budget, please just ask.

However, we cannot run the meet without the support of you, the Soundwell parents.  There is a significant amount of preparatory work required before the meet happens and for the past 3 years the two most significant roles have been taken on primarily by Darren Stone, who is stepping back this year.

The primary role we need to fill is Meet Promotor – without this we are not able to apply for a licence for the meet.  It is currently on the county calendar and the pool time is booked, but it is not yet a licensed meet, which what attracts the other clubs to attend.  This is primarily a coordination role and support will be provided and any question answered as the meet nears.

The secondary role is Technical Meet Manager, which is an IT role, compiling the swimmers and races lists and collecting times on the day and submitting to the ASA after the event. Once again, support will be provided, but a lack of fear of IT is essential.

If you can’t take on either of these roles, there are a number of other roles that need support and if you are able to help any way, please put your name on the list on the notice board or email the Chair.

A summary of each role can be found here

Many Thanks in advance for all your help

Change in Bank Account

WE ARE CHANGING BANK ACCOUNTS!

Because of the amount of fees that go through the club’s bank account, our current bank, Nat West will shortly start charging us for every transaction on the account. We are a ‘not for profit’ club and are trying to keep fees down, whilst the cost of pool hire is increasing, so have taken the decision to change bank account to avoid these charges. Our new account is with the Co-Operative Bank and the Sort Code and Account Number are as below:

Sort Code: 08-92-99    A/C: 65827532

I would be grateful if you could amend your standing order to the new account as soon as possible. We will keep the old account open until everyone is transferred over, but the sooner this happens the better chance we will have of avoiding charges.

I apologise for any inconvenience, but hope you understand the need to do this.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries. It’s also an opportunity to check your standing order is set up for the correct squad fees (please see the website for details) and don’t forget to quote the swimmers name.

Many thanks for your co-operation

The meet was oversubscribed and so Weston have not been able to offer every swimmer all of the races they wanted.

Please check the list to see which races have been scratched – credit notes for these races will be available after the meet has taken place (when Weston will send us a refund).

For the 400m Freestyle and 400 IM races a “reserve” list has been created, so if there are any withdrawals from the accepted list the fastest swimmer from the reserve list will be offered the place.  These are shown on the attached list as “ALT”.  (Swimmers with SCR alongside their name for these races are not on the reserves list.)

Behaviour Policy Change

Dear Parent / Carer

Recently concerns have been raised regarding some swimmers behaviour during land training sessions, including arriving late. Unfortunately poor behaviour can have a negative impact on the training of all the swimmers as well as being disrespectful for the coach running the sessions and, as such, cannot be, tolerated. As a result, the Committee have agreed to introduce a zero tolerance policy during land training sessions, which will mean that any poor behaviour during land training sessions will result in the swimmer being asked to leave the session immediately. This has been recorded in the minutes which are now published on the club's website - http://www.soundwellswim.org.uk/about/documents. Removed swimmers will be asked to remain in the centre until they are able to be collected, in line with club safeguarding policy.

We respectfully direct you to point 1 of the Swimmers Code of Conduct document in the "About" section of the Soundwell Swimming club website and ask that you remind your swimmer of this Code of Conduct and ensure their understanding of the no tolerance policy which will begin during Land training sessions from 3 April 2017. We apologise that this email is being sent out subsequent to this change being enforced.

Please be assured that we shall be reviewing this matter closely and on a regular basis.

If you do have any comments or concerns regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact the Club Secretary, who will ensure that your concerns are escalated appropriately.

Kind regards

The Soundwell Swimming Club Committee

The meet was very popular, Gloucester have offered races to as many swimmers as possible, but some scratches were necessary.  As a level 2 meet, the fastest swimmers are given priority.  Where necessary, scratches were applied proportionate to entries across the age groups in each event (i.e. the slowest swimmers in each age group were scratched).  Scratches are marked "SCR", whilst confirmed entries are marked with provisional heat and lane numbers.  Please check the list carefully, and contact competition@soundwellswim.org.uk if you have any queries.
